If you do not lack the desire to walk, this is a beautiful tour that we recommend if you have reached the end of the Ra Bujèla via ferrata you are not yet satisfied with your effort. The visit to the Tofana cave in the spring months offers the spectacle of ice stalactites and stalagmites, but don’t think you will find them when the temperatures rise!

A route that includes a total of three via ferratas, one of medium difficulty and two sligtly simple, Just at the bottom of the Tofana di Rozes, on the southern side. All three are well protected, but always pay attention to the Astaldi Path, which is not difficult, but landslide by nature.

From Baita Piè Tofana by chairlift until Rifugio Duca d’Aosta. To avoid chairlift, take the road to Rfugio Dibona and park just after the crossing with the dirt road to rifugio Duca d’Aosta. From there 30 minute walk to rifugio Duca d’Aosta and the beginning of the via ferrata.

Ascent description

The first part of the route is certainly the most demanding and offers some very exposed sections, on excellent rock. Once you reach the first bridge, the difficulties drop a lot and once you reach the second walkway the route develops mainly on the ridge, on broken rocks: the poor quality of the rock in this stretch does not, however, in any way compromise the safety of the climb, and it is along this stretch that you can enjoy the stunning panorama that, as always, the Dolomites offer us.

A few meters from the top there is a fork in the cable, follow the right side to go on top; on the left side you will begin the descent. Leaving the first via ferrata, go near the Pomedes refuge, where you will find the signs for the Astaldi path. The Astaldi path proceeds almost entirely horizontally and ends on a grassy hill, near the Valon de Tofana. The climb that leads to the Grotta di Tofana is very short.

Descent description

Following the three paths you will find easy descents, with no technical difficulty, on high altitude meadows or dirt roads.
