Description

This beautiful “scramble walk” along the third of the five Ledges of Pomagagnon Mount is an airy but not a difficult path, absolutely not to be missed.

The route, well equipped in the most exposed stretches, allows you to cross from east to west, all the southern part. And the view sweeps without limits on the green and fantastic Conca Ampezzo.

Itinerary very exposed but without particular difficulties, it is suitable for hikers with good experience and, considering the drop, well trained. Special care must be taken to follow the sections of ledge with a detrital base.

Access

With the trail marked 202 located near the Institute Heliotherapy Putti above Chiave, in about an hour and a half, you climb in the forest towards the base of the great debris cone that descends from the fork of Pomagagnon. From here you leave the path, which continues to the left by the gorge, and take the little trail that leads to the beginning of our crossing.

Ascent description

You climb decisively crossing under the Testa del Bartoldo (2435m). After having bypassed the very exposed southern edge of the following Costa del Bartoldo, continue descending slowly, always along the ledge, in the direction of the gorge which separates Costa del Bartoldo and the following Croda Cestellis (2250m). Crossing the steep couloir, you climb up among the rocks aiming for the saddle between Croda Cestellis and Punta Erbing (2301m). The ledge ends here while our route continues along the path on the opposite side of the ridge we have just reached which opens towards the Val Grande and the Cristallo massif. Along on the path, continue through the walls of the Crepe di Zuméles and reach the saddle Zuméles (2072m).

Descent description

From the Zuméles fork (from where you can reach through trail 205 the Rif. Son Forca at the foot of the Monte Cristallo) is redescending following the trail n. 204 to the starting point of the small Chiave village.

Note

This beautiful “Rocky walk” along the third of the five ledges del Pomagagnon is an airy but not difficult path, absolutely not to be missed. The route, well equipped in the most exposed stretches, allows you to cross from east to west, all the southern part. And the view sweeps without limits on the green and fantastic Conca Ampezzo.

“È una bellissima attraversata da nord a sud lungo la parete del Pomagagnon. Come tutte le cenge dolomitiche, il passaggio fa impressione in alcuni punti e quindi non deve mancare il passo fermo. Attenzione alle giornate calde e assolate, portate acqua a sufficienza e protezione solare.”
